Pollution and Health: A Global Public Health Crisis

Clean air isn't just an aspiration—it’s a necessity. Pollution continues to pose one of the greatest threats to human health, and meaningful progress requires collaboration. That’s why the Global Alliance on Health and Pollution (GAHP) is proud to welcome the Lovexair Foundation into its network of partners working to address pollution and reduce its burden on communities around the world.
Putting People First: Lovexair’s Mission in Action
At the core of Lovexair’s work lies a powerful, people-centered mission: to improve the lives of those affected by respiratory conditions through inclusive support, education, and innovation, while strengthening the leadership of healthcare professionals in addressing environmental health risks. Their vision is rooted in a world where respiratory health is treated as a universal right, where communities have the tools to breathe safely, and professionals are empowered to make a tangible difference.
This commitment runs through every initiative Lovexair takes on. From educating citizens about the real-world impact of air pollution to guiding families through chronic health journeys and equipping medical teams with practical resources, their work is both wide-reaching and deeply personal. Through emotionally resonant campaigns, digital innovations, and collaborative partnerships, Lovexair connects empathy with action—transforming how we talk about respiratory health and how we respond to it.
Their mission comes to life through efforts like Clean Air, Healthy Lives, which raises awareness of pollution as a serious health threat, and digital tools like Checkair, which support individuals in evaluating their own lung health and making better daily decisions. Whether offering emotional support to caregivers or data-driven solutions to policymakers, Lovexair is leading with compassion, insight, and a fierce dedication to healthier futures for all.
Joining Forces to Tackle Pollution at the Source
Lovexair’s decision to join GAHP stems from a clear alignment of values. Both organizations understand that air pollution is not simply an environmental issue, it’s a serious threat to human health. Through their Clean Air, Healthy Lives campaign, Lovexair has spent years mobilizing communities in Europe and Latin America, raising awareness, and advocating for systemic change. Now, as a member of GAHP, they’re expanding their reach and building new opportunities for collaboration.
Together, Lovexair and GAHP plan to strengthen global efforts to reduce pollution-related disease and death by combining data-driven tools, cross-sector partnerships, and community-based education. Checkair, now available in three languages, will be a key tool in this journey, serving not only as a personal health resource but also as a platform for gathering citizen-driven insights.
Building Health Through Actionable Innovation
Checkair–a catalyst for community-driven tech solution change. Currently active across Latin America: Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, and soon Brazil. The app supports on-the-ground projects developed in partnership with local organizations, educators, and health professionals. These efforts are designed to guide behavior change and provide vulnerable populations with accessible, real-time information to prevent exposure and make healthier decisions.
In Spain, Lovexair has extended this initiative through collaborations with public institutions, organizing open events that connect citizens with experts in air quality and environmental health. Their outreach builds awareness and trust, opening up dialogue between communities and government leaders focused on prevention.
The campaign officially launched at the 2nd WHO Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health in Cartagena, Colombia (March 2025), marking a milestone in Lovexair’s international engagement. It was also featured on WHO’s BreatheLife platform, recognizing the app’s role in empowering citizens and supporting long-term solutions to pollution.
Now preparing for broader expansion across Europe, Lovexair is leveraging its expertise in digital health and community engagement to contribute meaningfully to evolving sustainability and public health frameworks. As a member of the ELF Air Quality Working Group, aligned with ERS, they’re reinforcing prevention strategies among healthcare professionals and communities. Their upcoming participation in the Radical Health Festival Helsinki in 2026, alongside EditoHealth, will further showcase how digital tools can activate citizen health and drive scalable impact.
A Partnership Built on Purpose
This alliance marks a turning point. Lovexair brings the lived experience of respiratory health into GAHP’s mission to tackle pollution as a global health threat. From education and engagement to tech and policy advocacy, they’re helping expand the toolkit for prevention and resilience.
Shane Fitch, President of Lovexair Foundation, sums it up best:
“Breathing clean air is both a right and a necessity for global well-being. This alliance shows how collaboration between organizations focused on health and climate can lead to greater impact—both on public policy and in people's daily lives.”
This is more than a membership. It’s a shared journey toward improving health by tackling pollution at its source and building more resilient communities worldwide.
