GAHP holds Council Meeting in Ho Chi Minh City to Strengthen Strategic Collaboration on Pollution and Health

The Global Alliance on Health and Pollution (GAHP) convened its GAHP Council Meeting on 28 February 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, bringing together Council Members in a hybrid format to strengthen strategic collaboration across its global network.

Held alongside the Regional Pollution Forum for Southeast Asia, the Council Meeting provided an opportunity to revitalise the GAHP Council collaboration, review ongoing work, and discuss priorities for strengthening coordination and collaboration as well as challenges across countries and partners.

The GAHP Council plays a central role in guiding the Alliance’s mission to improve health by addressing pollution, providing strategic oversight, technical expertise, and institutional leadership across air pollution, chemicals, waste, and broader environmental health challenges.

By organising the Council Meeting in conjunction with the Regional Pollution Forum, GAHP aims to foster stronger linkages between strategic governance discussions and regional policy dialogue, ensuring that Council deliberations are informed by on-the-ground experiences and regional perspectives.

Bringing the GAHP Council together at this time reinforces our shared commitment to addressing pollution as a critical global health priority. The discussions in Ho Chi Minh City reflected both the progress made across our programmes and the importance of continued collaboration to respond to evolving environmental challenges,” said Raymond Ruyoka, GAHP Board Chair.

In addition, Maria Paola Lia, GAHP Executive Director, believes that “Addressing pollution and protecting health requires strong partnerships and shared expertise. Our Council meeting in Ho Chi Minh City was a valuable opportunity to connect in person with members and discuss how to strengthen collective action.”

Insights from the meeting will help guide GAHP’s collaboration with partners and ongoing engagement with governments, partners, and donors.
