Dr. Amalia Laborde Garcia is a Medical Doctor and specialist in Clinical Toxicology and Occupational Medicine. She is Professor of Toxicology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of the Republic, Uruguay, and Head of the Department of Toxicology at the University Clinical Hospital. Her expertise spans clinical, occupational, and environmental toxicology.

She previously directed the Department of Toxicology, leading the Montevideo Poison Control Center and the Occupational Toxicology Unit for over 20 years. In 2010, she founded the Pediatric Environmental Health Unit in collaboration with the national primary health care network. Dr. Laborde has authored scientific publications and book chapters, developed postgraduate training programmes, and teaches across medical and public health disciplines. She has served as an invited professor and international lecturer and has collaborated as a temporary advisor with Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization initiatives.

She is a Fellow of the Collegium Ramazzini, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Iberoamerican Society of Environmental Health, and an active member of Uruguay’s professional toxicology and occupational medicine societies.
