[JOB OPPORTUNITY] Program Manager

Overview:

GAHP is currently seeking a well-qualified, motivated, and detail-oriented full-time Consultant to fulfill the Program Manager role to support the implementation and coordination of two core programs: the Health and Pollution Action Planning (HPAP) program (with a current focus in Uganda) and the EPP Program in Vietnam (2025–2026). This role is critical to ensure the timely delivery of program milestones in 2025 and to support program growth.

The selected Consultant fulfills these responsibilities and will also step in for the Senior HPAP Manager during her maternity leave/absence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management (~60%)

  • Support day-to-day implementation of the HPAP program in Uganda, including coordinating partners and experts, organizing events, and preparing presentations.

  • Monitor program timelines, deliverables, and progress; track donor-specific deliverables.

  • Assist in grant reporting and program documentation.

  • Coordinate and support the local program coordinator and local communications officer in Uganda.

  • Provide regular updates and Support to the GAHP Secretariat and Executive Director.

  • Represent GAHP in relevant Secretariat, partner, and donor meetings, as well as country-level and global communications meetings.

  • Draft and revise project reports, briefing papers, and communications materials in collaboration with team members.

  • Serve as interim point person for the HPAP program and other programs during the Senior HPAP Manager's maternity leave.

  • Follow up with partners to ensure that the project deliverables are met.

Fundraising (~10%)

  • Assist GAHP staff and partners in drafting funding proposals to various donors to ensure project sustainability and continued local engagement post-grant.

Administrative Support (~30%)

  • Process receipts, expense reports, and related financial documentation.

  • Support the preparation and finalization of contracts and consultant agreements.

  • Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and maintain records of key discussions.

  • Compile program updates for GAHP newsletters, donor newsletters, blogs, and donor reports.

Other Requirements:

  • Flexibility to attend early or late-night meetings across time zones, when necessary.

  • Occasional international or domestic travel may be required.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience in program management, international development, public health, or environmental programs.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural, remote team.

  • Prior experience with grant reporting and donor communications.

  • Fluency (written and oral) in French and English, as well as another language, is a plus.

  • Degree in Transnational Environmental Science and Political Economy; Global Health, International relations, or similar degree.

  • Experience in networking with government agencies and national and international stakeholders

  • Excellent report writing.

Will be considered a strong Plus:

  • Prior experience with implementing HPAP Activities

  • Experience in implementing awareness campaigns projects in Africa (in Uganda, a strong plus).

  • Experience in pesticide use, safe practices, and agricultural methods.

  • Facilitated workshops on safe practices on how to handle pesticides and or ULABs.

  • Technology skills: Dropbox, Box, Asana, Google Drive, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.
