Barbara Jones
Environmental Science Expert
Barbara Jones has more than 40 years of experience in environmental science and engineering, beginning her career as a water quality chemist and microbiologist before co-founding and managing an environmental consultancy. She has worked globally with multinational clients and NGOs on environmental contamination assessment and remediation.
Her first NGO volunteer experience was in Liberia in 2004, where she helped evaluate water quality in community wells. Since then, she has advised projects across Eurasia, Central Asia, and Africa, focusing on communities impacted by lead, chemical plant residuals, and pesticides. She has also contributed to research projects exploring the complex links between pollutants, populations, and human health.
Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a Master of Science in Environmental Health Engineering from Montana State University.
At GAHP, Barbara collaborates with project teams and Vietnamese partners on planning and implementing environmental studies. These include identifying rice straw burning hotspots, assessing waste management strategies, studying plastic waste and sustainable alternatives, scaling up applied research for straw decomposition, and piloting rice straw fuel pellet production.
