Alberto Santos Capra

Alberto Santos Capra is a chemist with postgraduate studies in Occupational Health and Safety (University of Morón), Environmental Law (Universidad Austral), Solid Waste Management (Technological University of Dresden, Germany), and a Master’s in Environmental Management (UNSAM, Argentina).
He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at various public and private universities, including UNSAM, UBA, UCA, and UDE.
With over 20 years of experience in the environmental field, he began his career in hazardous waste management and later led national and international agendas related to the Basel, Stockholm, Rotterdam, and Minamata Conventions. He held several leadership roles, including National Hazardous Waste Director, Basel Convention Technical Contact Point, and Co-Chair of working groups.
He also served at ACUMAR and as National Director of Sustainable Mining Production (2020–2022). From 2022 to 2023, he worked on international environmental policy within the Ministry of Environment, contributing to the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.
Since December 2023, he has been Director of the Basel Regional Center for South America (INTI) and serves in advisory roles for GEO-7 and MESAG, among others.
