About GAHP
The Global Alliance on Health and Pollution (GAHP) is a Switzerland-based foundation committed to addressing pollution and environmental health challenges worldwide, especially in low- and middle-income countries. We are currently supporting the implementation of the Environmental Public Health (EPP) Program in Vietnam and Uganda, in collaboration with key international partners.
Position Summary
GAHP is seeking a Program & Administrative Associate to provide essential administrative and light project support for the EPP Program, particularly in Vietnam and Uganda. While the position is primarily administrative, it also offers opportunities to contribute to program coordination, communications, and event planning.
This is a great opportunity for a junior professional passionate about environmental health and international development to work with a dynamic, global team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative & Operational Support:
- Review due diligence documents, partner expense reports, and project deliverables.
- Maintain an organized and secure digital filing system.
- Schedule meetings across time zones and prepare agendas and minutes.
- Support internal communication and document sharing within a globally distributed team.
- Maintain (create or revise) project archives and administrative records.
Project & Communications Support:
- Assist in coordinating activities under the EPP Program in Vietnam and Uganda.
- Contribute to drafting and reviewing presentations and communication materials.
- Collaborate with team members to write short articles, updates, or summaries for stakeholders and donors.
- Conduct small-scale research tasks as needed.
- Support the organization of meetings or events, both virtual and in-person.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to group discussions.
Profile & Requirements
- 2–3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an NGO, foundation, or international project setting.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across multiple teams and cultures..
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken) – Spanish or other languages are a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, and shared document platforms (e.g., Google Drive, Box).
- Demonstrated interest in environmental health, sustainability, or public health.
- Reliable, proactive, and motivated to contribute to a mission-driven organization.

National Coordinator Assistant - Uganda

GAHP is a collaborative body of more than 60 members and dozens of observers that advocates for resources and solutions to pollution problems. GAHP was formed because international and national level actors/ agencies recognize that a collaborative, multi-stakeholder, multi-sectoral approach is critical to dealing with the global pollution crisis and resulting health and economic impacts. GAHP aims to reduce death and illness caused by all forms of toxic pollution, including air, water, soil, and chemical wastes, especially in low and middle-income countries. These efforts will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals related to pollution, particularly on Health (Targets 3.4 and 3.9).
ABOUT THE POSITION
GAHP is seeking a qualified, motivated, detail-oriented, full-time National Coordinator Assistant to help manage and implement the Health and Pollution Action Planning program in Uganda.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team, will be an excellent writer, extremely detail-oriented and organized, and have a proven track record of delivering work products on time. Research and data interpretation skills, logical thinking, and the ability to contribute ideas are also key. Ideally, the candidate will also have a keen interest in the health and environmental impact of pollution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Development of the Preliminary Report and Action Plan (80%)

Work closely with the GAHP Consultant Program Manager and National Coordinator to implement the Health and Pollution Action Plan. Conduct a desk review and draft a Preliminary report on key priority pollution issues.

Draft, review, and edit the Action Plan and concept notes.

Assist the National Coordinator in the organization of the EPP Conference.

Assist the National Coordinator in planning and facilitating HPAP workshops, Working Group meetings, and any other events implemented in this project.

Prepare, draft, review, and disseminate the Health and Pollution Action Plan and related documents to stakeholders and international partners.

Assist in the development of a roadmap/ workplan for the next program phase.

Draft and review a power map of stakeholders.
Fundraising (~10%)

Assist GAHP staff in presenting the Action Plan and concept notes to partners and donors.

Qualifications:

At least five years of relevant experience working in non-profits (in program management or implementation preferred).

Master's degree preferably in related fields (e.g., global health, public health, environmental science, Chemistry, or related field); PhD is a plus.

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel (i.e., formulas, referencing, pivot tables, etc.), and online research tools, or the ability to pick up new technology quickly.

GAHP seeks a motivated, strategic, and creative Communication Officer to lead external communications related to the Environmental Protection Program (EPP) in Uganda. The key initiatives implemented include:

The Communication Officer will ensure that reports, findings, recommendations, and outcomes of the various initiatives are effectively communicated to national and international stakeholders, the media, development partners, and the general public through targeted storytelling, press, and digital media content. This is a full-time, remote-based position with some travel required.

Strategic Communication and Content Development (60%)

Design and implement a communication plan to support the Environmental Protection Program in Uganda, in coordination with the GAHP global communications team.

Draft press releases, blogs, factsheets, social media posts, and newsletters to highlight project findings, milestones, and impact stories.

Support the development of communication products for policy dissemination events and donor outreach.

Translate technical reports into accessible content for general and policy audiences.

Manage communication outputs aligned with GEDSI-sensitive messaging.

Draft, edit, and review materials developed for the Civil Society Campaign in collaboration with YADNET Uganda.
Media and Stakeholder Engagement (25%)

Liaise with Ugandan media to secure coverage of GAHP activities.

Identify opportunities for amplifying GAHP's work in national and regional media.

Support the planning of stakeholder briefings and public events in Uganda.

Assist in preparing key messages and presentation materials for project spokespersons.
Internal Coordination and Reporting (15%)

Maintain close communication with the GAHP Program Manager, the Uganda National Coordinator, and the GEDSI Expert.

Assist the GAHP Communication Manager in related campaigns and provide materials as requested.

Track communication deliverables and deadlines; report progress to Project Manager.

Contribute to donor reports and internal updates.

Provide editorial support for project outputs when needed.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, public health, or a related field. A master’s degree is an asset.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in communications, media relations, or public affairs, preferably with an NGO or international development agency.

Strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills (writing sample required).

Experience translating technical content into engaging materials.
-
Familiarity with environment, pollution, health, or GEDSI topics is highly desirable.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and communications platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Canva, social media scheduling tools).

Knowledge of Uganda’s media and development landscape is a strong plus.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote work setting.

Fluent in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.

OVERVIEW
GAHP is currently seeking a well-qualified, motivated, and detail-oriented part-time Consultant to fulfill the Publications Editor role to support the implementation and coordination of the EPP Program in Vietnam (2025–2026). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

John Pwamang
Environmental Protection Agency Of Ghana
John Pwamang is Acting Executive Director of Environmental Protection of Ghana. He has served in various capacities at the agency since 1990, including as Chief Scientific Secretary, head of the Manufacturing Industry Department, and Registrar of the Chemicals Control and Management Centre. He coordinated the development of Ghana’s first national implementation plan for the Stockholm Convention, the implementation of the UNDP/UNITAR/EPA-Ghana Project on Capacity Building for the Elimination of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), and the establishment of sixteen new area offices as part of efforts to decentralize environmental governance to district levels, among other projects.
