Hassanatou Anna Samake
Program Manager
With six years of experience supporting international organizations in the U.S. and abroad, she specializes in project coordination, environmental protection, and public health. Her self-designed B.S. in Transnational Environmental Science and Political Economy from Antioch College focused on the intersection of policy, economy, and environmental health—driven by her commitment to addressing pollution’s deadly impact on marginalized and low-income communities.
In her new role, she is:
-
Implementing Uganda’s Health and Pollution Action Plan (EPP UGANDA)
-
Coordinating a study on traffic-related air pollution with Makerere University and the University of Birmingham
-
Reviewing Uganda’s waste management and agriculture policies through the lens of pollution, GEDSI, and public health
-
Leading a civil society awareness campaign with YADNET in Kampala
-
Overseeing program timelines and grant reporting to ensure measurable impact
Since 2022, Hassanatou has supported key GAHP initiatives including HPAP in Burkina Faso, a blood lead level study in Senegal, and lead awareness campaigns in both Senegal and Uganda. Previously, she served as Program Associate for Africa at Pure Earth, contributing to national strategies on environmentally sound ULAB management and pollution action planning in Tanzania, Burkina Faso, and Senegal. She is fluent in French and English.
