Rachel Silverman-Bonnifield
Senior Fellow / Centre For Global Development
Rachel Silverman-Bonnifield is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development, where she leads policy-oriented research and convenings on global health financing and policy.
Her current research focuses on procurement and access models for global health products, incentives for global health innovation and delivery; neglected global health crises such as the spread of antimicrobial resistance and widespread lead poisoning of children; and financing for pandemic preparedness and response. Since joining CGD in 2011, she has published on a wide range of additional health and development topics, including the practical application of results-based financing, global health transitions, efficient global health procurement, priority-setting for Universal Health Coverage; contraceptive financing; and strategies to strengthen evidence and accountability in global health.
In addition to her role with CGD, she has consulted extensively with the World Bank, including authorship of the most recent Flagship Report on the future of primary health care. Previously, she worked with the National Democratic Institute to support democracy and governance-strengthening programs in Kosovo.
She holds a Master of Philosophy with distinction in public health from the University of Cambridge, which she attended as a Gates Cambridge Scholar. She also holds a BA in international relations and economics with distinction from Stanford University.
